Il Mulino is the inspiration of owner and seasoned restaurateur Oscar Valverde. Oscar’s experience of more than twenty years includes GM status at some of the top restaurants in the city. Of Peruvian and Italian-Jewish decent, Oscar found his passion and true calling in the restaurant industry. The culmination of all of this is embodied in IL Mulino a flawless Forest Hill gem! The two keys to their success are an obsession with fresh ingredients and a profound belief that the customer is king! Speaking of Royalty, that is exactly how you will feel once greeted by a most accommodating staff and guided to your table. Get ready, here is where the fairy tale begins as you are seemingly seated in a castle inspired dining room with high arches and hanging chandeliers. Near the back, their resident Sommelier patrols the elegant dark wood bar that is teaming with some of the finest wines and liquors ready to assist you with the perfect pairing for your menu selection. We begin with the antipasto-platter adorned with delicious delicacies such as grilled calamari, shrimp, cured meats on a bed of greens, tomatoes, mushrooms, herbs and olives. Next the Calamari Amalfitani appetizer which instantly transports us to a Mediterranean village where they grill the mornings catch with the simplicity of sea salt EVOO and lemon. The grilled Sea Bass is a must! Served whole and is accompanied by grilled vegetables, drizzled with a lemon and extra virgin olive oil sauce that marinates it into one masterful culinary experience.
